So I figure I might as well do the calculations now until I can do my own screen capture etc.

The way that video plays out, it's only fair to take the time from the first monster aggroed till the last monster dies. This doesn't affect the numbers in the OP. After all, I always led with YMLAD / EBVAS, which is full cast range, about the same range at which monsters aggro.

The fight ranges from 1.22 to 1.36 of that video = 14s
44x4 + 35x2 + + 35x2 + 44 + 44x2 = 448 damage over 14s = 32 DPS

Second fight is not easily duplicable since it involves unintentional aggro of two mobs, so I am not calculating it. But in any case the DPS would be pretty mediocre, considering how long it took for the player to realize he'd aggroed two mobs.

Another fight from 3.09 to 3.22 = 13s
49x2 + 35x3 + 44x2 + 49x2 + 44x2 + 35x3 + 49 + 35x3 + 44x2 + 63 + 129 + 35x3 + 44x2 + 49x2 + 96x2 + 99 + 35 + 49x2 + 35 + 35 + 49 = 1850 damage over 13s = 142.3 DPS

And another fight from 3.43 to 4.11 = 28s
22x2 + 75 + 22x2 + 22 + 41 + 41 + 22 + 22x2 + 29 + 75 = 437 damage over 28s = 15.6 DPS

I don't think this is much of a fight. The damage output is way too inconsistent, and averages out to be terrible. The last fight is especially embarrassing; 15.6 DPS is lower than Conjure Flame Frenzy wandspike. The third fight might be worth looking at in closer detail with 142.3 DPS, but from my own crude runs without screen capture software, 13s is a rather unspectacular time to take down that mob. Especially one that is balled as nicely as in the video. Using "Fall Back!" as a crude timer, I estimate I can destroy it in 11-12s with the build in the OP, fighting with a worse ball as well. If this Ele bar / team does so much DPS (over 50 more than the best DPS in the OP), why does it not kill faster? I suspect it's because the teambuild as a whole inflates the DPS of the player. Using a more powerful teambuild like the ones that I use will reduce the player's DPS seriously.

bhavv just saying that I'm confident I can do every area in the game sans UW HM and DoA HM (both of which might still be doable) with 8 Elementalists. I'm not so sure about you, though. Why don't you try Forgewight HM and see how far you get? Or, if you dislike the high armour vs. Fire in that dungeon, you could try Selvetarm HM.

Wait, can you really?

I can barely do Foundry in HM with my fully optimized hero builds. In fact, when I did it yesterday and I wiped on the Fury cause I failed my pull. If you can do that with 8 Elementalists, I'd shit bricks. Granted, I'm probably not as good as you at this game, but that seems like a pretty steep claim to make. I'd really like to see it--not Foundry in particular, but anywhere of similar difficulty.

Also, Swingline is right--we all know you're one of the best 7-Hero players in Guild Wars PvE, Jeydra, but Bhavv was just testing out a new build he came up with trying to utilize Elementalists to the fullest (for which I applaud him). Condescending him about the build he slapped together not being viable in the hardest areas in the game is rude, especially considering he never claimed his build to be "meta" or "viable", just fun and utilizing the Ele update. Moreover, I'm pretty certain 90% of the people in this game--even with the best builds, items and runes etc.--couldn't do most of those areas in HM without con-sets, let alone with a full Elementalist team.

Honestly, what it comes down to is you flaunting being a better player (or whatever) in everyone's face. People get sick of it, fast.

I'm sure there is an optimized (in regards to least amount of time to complete) group-build to clear each area specifically. I doubt that there is a single build that can clear ALL areas that doesn't need some amount of tweaking of skills/roles. That being said, I think what should be more important in a build is it's ease of use, flexibility and how forgiving it is in case everything doesn't go as expected. I do love seeing all the new group-build ideas that people are coming up with. Though they may not be "ideal", they definitely are a breath of fresh air compared to the currently stagnant groups of Mesmers with Necros and Rits.

I tried to do UW with 8 elementalists once, but I gave up after three hours of searching and still only had Sousuke, Vekk, Zhed, and me.
